VoteAmerica Plus FAQ

Welcome! This guide covers the most common questions about using VoteAmericaPlus. From getting started with our tools to understanding the difference between free and paid accounts.

Getting started

How can I use your tools?

Sign up for a free account at voteamericaplus.org

There are a few easy ways to get started with VoteAmericaPlus:

Easy Links are the fastest way to begin using our tools. Each tool in your VoteAmericaPlus account comes with its own custom link, so you can:

  • Share it in emails or text messages
  • Add it to your website or blog
  • Post it on social media

All activity driven through these links is automatically attributed to your account and visible in your VoteAmericaPlus dashboard.

2. Embedded tools

If you prefer to host tools directly on your site, you can embed them using just two lines of code, similar to embedding a YouTube video. You’ll find your custom embed code in your customer portal.

3. Custom voter portals using our embeddable tools

Build a voter portal that includes multiple tools, allowing your audience to take several actions in one place, from checking registration to requesting a mail ballot.

4. Microsites

If you’d like a fully hosted, custom-branded hub, our team can create a microsite for you. Microsites are designed and maintained by VoteAmerica, and they make it easy for your voters to find all the information and tools they need to vote.

Pricing and plans

How much does VoteAmericaPlus cost?

The paid version of VoteAmericaPlus is $1,999 per month.

501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations receive a 50% discount, bringing the cost to $999 per month.

What’s the difference between the free and paid versions?

Free Version

  • Access to all VoteAmerica tools
  • Basic analytics (high-level usage counts)
  • Quick setup using Easy Links or simple embeds
  • Exportable user-level data and reporting
  • Access to microsites hosted by VoteAmerica
  • API integrations (e.g., Action Network)
  • Advanced analytics and full attribution tracking
  • JavaScript events on embedded tools
  • Color customization
  • Priority support from our team

Data and reporting

Why do my exports show fewer contacts than my dashboard totals?

If you see fewer contacts in your export than the total number of actions in your dashboard, here’s why:

  • Free accounts only receive topline counts (no individual-level data).
  • Paid accounts include user-level data for actions taken after upgrading.

If you recently switched from a free to paid plan, your export will only include contacts collected while on the paid plan. Earlier data will still show in your dashboard totals but won’t be exportable.

Using the tools

Which tool should I start with?

We recommend starting with the Verify tool.

Why Verify?

  • It’s a high-engagement, evergreen option.
  • Most people are already registered to vote, so “verify your registration” gets more completions than “register to vote.”

As elections approach, consider layering in other tools:

  • Absentee for states with no-excuse or permanent absentee voting
  • Locate in the two weeks before an election to help voters find polling places
  • Note: States often finalize polling locations close to Election Day, so it’s best to promote the “Locate” tool only in the final few weeks before voting begins.

Voter communications

What kind of messages does VoteAmerica send to people who use our tools?

VoteAmerica runs an evergreen election reminder program. When someone takes an action using your tools, they’ll receive messages throughout the election cycle, including:

  • Registration and vote-by-mail deadlines
  • Early voting and Election Day reminders
  • Polling location information

We also send transactional emails and follow-ups, such as:

  • Registration confirmations
  • Verification results
  • Prompts to take next steps (e.g., request a mail ballot or sign up for permanent absentee voting)

All communications are designed to keep your audience informed, compliant, and motivated to vote.

FutureVoter

How does the FutureVoter tool work?

The FutureVoter tool is for individuals under 18 who pre-register to vote.

Because we follow the most stringent child privacy laws in the U.S., you will not receive contact information for users under 18. Instead, you’ll see aggregate counts in your dashboard.

When these individuals turn 18, they automatically transition into our standard voter program:

  • They’ll receive a birthday message reminding them to verify their registration.
  • They’ll get receive key election information they need to help them feel confident voting in their first election.
